About

theanaestheticgroup is a group of Consultant Anaesthetists whose private practice is based at BMI Sarum Road Hospital in Winchester, but extends across Hampshire to The Hampshire Clinic and Candover Suite in Basingstoke, Wessex Nuffield Hospital in Chandlers Ford and Spire Hospital in Southampton. All of our Consultants work within the NHS at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester, part of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We work with all private medical insurers and also look after patients choosing to have their treatment as part of a “fixed price” package. In addition, we care for NHS patients being treated within the private sector as part of the NHS “choose and book” pathway.

theanaestheticgroup provides a comprehensive anaesthetic service to patients undergoing a wide range of medical and surgical procedures. These include general surgery from hernia repair to major bowel resection, both of which may be performed laparascopically, varicose vein surgery, including endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) and other vascular surgery, orthopaedic procedures, including arthroscopic work and joint replacements, gynaecological, ear nose and throat, breast surgery – including breast reduction, plastic and cosmetic surgery, obesity surgery and ophthalmic surgery. Our anaesthetic service includes a full pre-operative assessment, peri-operative and post-operative care. High dependency and intensive care is available when required. We also provide an acute pain service for the duration of your in-hospital stay.

We work as a team and the breadth of our specialist experience means that you will be in the safest of hands at all times through what many consider to be the most daunting aspect of any surgical procedure – the anaesthetic.

theanaestheticgroup also provides a pain medicine service, which is based at BMI Sarum Road Hospital in Winchester and is led by our Consultants with a specialist interest in pain medicine.

This site has been designed to give you access to information about our services to prepare you for your anaesthetic.
